Rebar inside the slab is fine and normal on Tierra Verde tear-outs. Rebar protruding above the container walls is not, because the load cannot be tarped and an untarped load cannot legally leave your site.
We cover Tierra Verde through our Nueces County routes. There is no minimum, but a few days of notice lets us schedule it properly rather than as a special trip.

Sizing this job in Tierra Verde
Think in tons rather than yards on Tierra Verde concrete. Five tons is a full legal load, and five tons of broken slab is about four cubic yards - roughly a third of a 10 yard container.
What the container accepts, what the receiving facility will reject, and the full dimensions and tonnage table are on the Concrete & Asphalt Disposal guide. For Texas-specific rules on permits, disposal rates and ground conditions, see Concrete & Asphalt Disposal in Texas.
Tierra Verde questions
Can I mix dirt and concrete in Tierra Verde?
No. They go to different facilities. Mixing them means the whole load is handled as mixed heavy debris, which costs more than either separately.
Do you take rebar-reinforced slab?
Yes. Rebar inside the concrete is normal. Steel protruding above the container walls is not, because the load cannot be tarped and so cannot be hauled.
How much concrete fits in a container?
Around 4 to 5 cubic yards, roughly 5 tons, before you reach legal haul weight. The container will look part empty when it is legally full, and that is correct.
What happens if I go over the weight limit?
Overage is billed per ton at the disposal rate for Nueces County and you get the scale ticket. We do not mark up tipping fees.
