Home Renovation and Remodeling Dumpsters in Texas

Most Texas remodel containers sit in a driveway at an occupied house, often in an HOA, often in serious heat. All three change how you place it.

HOA rules are the Texas-specific complication

Master-planned communities are everywhere across suburban Texas, and many have rules about containers: how long one may stay, whether it can be visible from the street, and whether it must sit on the driveway rather than the kerb.

Check before you book rather than after the container lands. Most HOA rules permit a container for an active permitted project but cap the duration, so if your remodel is running long, a swap-out can reset the clock where a long hold would breach the covenant.

Heat and your driveway

Texas summer slab temperatures are the reason driveway marking is a bigger issue here than in most states. Hot concrete deforms more easily under concentrated load, and a loaded container sits on two rails and two wheels.

Boards under the rails and wheels solve it, cost nothing, and we will place it that way on request. On a newly poured or stamped driveway, say so when you book and we will plan the placement around it.

Permits in the big Texas metros

Driveway and private-property placement needs no permit anywhere in Texas. Street placement does, and the major metros each run their own process with their own lead time.

If your lot has no usable driveway, which is common in older central neighbourhoods in Austin, Dallas and Houston, factor the right-of-way permit into the schedule. We will tell you what your city requires, but the permit is issued to you rather than to us.

Same containers statewide. The tonnage allowance behind them is set by the county facility that receives your load.

Dimensions are typical; tonnage allowance is confirmed when you book, because disposal rates differ by county.

Texas questions

Will my HOA allow a dumpster?

Most allow one for an active permitted project, with a duration cap and sometimes a placement rule. Check your covenant before booking; a swap-out can reset a duration limit where a long hold would breach it.

Will the container damage my driveway in summer?

Not if it is set on boards. Texas heat softens concrete enough that this matters more here than elsewhere, so ask for boards under the rails and wheels.

Do I need a permit in Austin, Dallas or Houston?

Not for driveway or private-property placement. Street placement requires a right-of-way permit from the city, issued to you, with lead times that vary by metro.

What size for a Texas kitchen remodel?

A 20 yard suits most single kitchens. Go to a 30 yard if flooring extends beyond the kitchen or walls are moving.
