Roll-Off Dumpster Rental in Texas
Texas is four disposal markets rather than one, and which one you are in changes the price more than the container does.
This page covers what is specific to Texas. For container sizing, accepted and prohibited materials and how the rental works, see Roll-Off Dumpster Rental.
Four disposal markets, not one statewide rate
Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth have dense transfer station and landfill networks. Short hauls, competitive tonnage rates, and same-day delivery that is genuinely achievable most mornings.
Central Texas around Austin and San Antonio sits between the extremes, with rates climbing as you move out of the metro into the Hill Country.
The Valley and the Gulf Coast run their own economics, shaped by storm seasons that can fill every container in the region within 48 hours.
West Texas is the outlier. Fewer facilities and long hauls mean the distance to the nearest scale affects your price more than anything about the container. A 30 yard in Harris County and the same box in Brewster County are genuinely different jobs for the truck.
Caliche, clay and why Texas loads run heavy
The ground here works against you on weight. Caliche across West and Central Texas is dense, and the expansive clay soils through the I-35 corridor and East Texas hold water and weigh far more than people expect when they order.
Excavation spoil, trench waste and broken slab all reach the legal haul weight at roughly a third of visible capacity. If the load is dirt or concrete, order smaller and plan a swap rather than ordering bigger.
Heat, driveways and overnight placement
Texas summer surface temperatures do real damage. Loaded steel sitting on hot residential concrete will mark it, and the hotter the slab the easier it marks. Ask for boards under the rails and wheels; it costs nothing and it prevents the complaint we hear most.
Street placement is governed by the municipality and the rules genuinely differ. Several Texas cities require reflective markings on a container left in the right-of-way overnight, and some require the permit issued before the drop rather than after. We confirm what your city asks for before delivery.
Sizes we quote in Texas
Same containers statewide. The tonnage allowance behind them is set by the county facility that receives your load.
| Size | L × W × H | Included tons | Pickup loads | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 yard | 12′ × 8′ × 3.5′ | 2 - 3 | 3 - 4 | Heavy inert loads: concrete, brick, dirt. Small bath or kitchen gut. |
| 20 yard | 22′ × 8′ × 4.5′ | 3 - 4 | 6 - 8 | Roof tear-offs up to about 30 squares. Mid-size remodels. Garage cleanouts. |
| 30 yard | 22′ × 8′ × 6′ | 4 - 5 | 9 - 12 | Whole-home renovations, framing waste, mixed demolition debris. |
| 40 yard | 22′ × 8′ × 8′ | 5 - 6 | 14 - 16 | Commercial tear-outs, large demolition, bulky light debris. |
Texas questions
Do you deliver same-day in Texas?
Often on calls before about 10am, and most reliably in Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin and San Antonio. West Texas usually needs a day because of haul distance.
Why does the price change between Texas cities?
Tipping fees are set by the receiving facility and vary by county, and haul distance varies enormously across the state. We quote against the facility that will actually take your load.
Do I need a permit for a dumpster in Texas?
Not on private property. Street or right-of-way placement needs a permit from the city, and requirements differ between municipalities. We tell you which applies before delivery.
