Roofing and Shingle Dumpster Rental in Florida

Two things make Florida roofing different: a great deal of it is tile, and the whole region books out at once after a storm.

This page covers what is specific to Florida. For container sizing, accepted and prohibited materials and how the rental works, see Roofing & Shingle Dumpster Rental.

Tile is the Florida difference

Concrete and clay barrel tile are everywhere in Florida, and they are far heavier per square than asphalt shingle. The same roof area that would be a routine 20 yard of shingle becomes a weight-bound load that will not be allowed to leave full.

For a tile tear-off, plan on a smaller container with a low fill line and a swap rather than one large box. Tell us it is tile when you order rather than when the driver arrives; the size we would recommend is genuinely different, and so is the number of pulls.

Storm season is a capacity problem, not just a weather one

A single named storm puts thousands of roofs into the claims pipeline across a region in an afternoon. Container demand spikes within about 48 hours of landfall and stays elevated for weeks, which is the real constraint on Florida roofing work rather than anything about the roof itself.

If you are a roofing contractor working claims, book ahead of the crew rather than the day you need the box, and tell us the expected volume so we can hold capacity instead of quoting you against a queue. The contractors who come out of a storm season well are the ones who called early.

Insurance timelines, decking and keeping the load clean

Claim work runs to an adjuster timeline and the container schedule has to match it, so we can hold a container on site across a staged tear-off and re-roof rather than forcing the job into a single 7 to 10 day window.

Keep the load clean anyway. Shingle recyclers operate in several Florida metros and process tear-off into asphalt paving material, which tips below the landfill rate; adding the old insulation and the lunch trash converts the whole container to mixed debris at the mixed debris price. Budget for decking as well. Humidity and wind-driven rain mean a Florida tear-off frequently reveals deck that has to come off too, and once the load is mostly lumber it is no longer a recyclable shingle load.

Florida questions

Can you supply containers during storm season?

Yes, but book ahead. Regional demand spikes within about 48 hours of landfall and stays high for weeks. Tell us expected volume and we can hold capacity.

Do you take concrete or clay barrel tile?

Yes, in a smaller container with a lower fill line than asphalt. Tile is much heavier per square, so the same roof needs a different size and often more pulls.

Is shingle recycling available in Florida?

In several metros, yes, and a clean shingle-only load tips below the landfill rate. Availability is thinner in rural counties.

How many squares fit in a 20 yard?

Roughly 30 squares of single-layer architectural shingle within the weight allowance. A second layer cuts that significantly, and tile cuts it much further.
